Top Travel Essentials Kit:

Headphones

How often have you run out of the house and forgotten your headphones?! I have more times than I would like to admit. But I go back for them every time because they are necessary for my day-to-day activities.

Headphones are one of the main travel essentials you will want to add to your kit. These Airpods are the exact same pair I use even when I’m not traveling.

Whether you are streaming shows on your laptop, taking a call on your phone, or jamming out to music, headphones allow you to do that without disturbing others. And there may be many times during your trip when you have some downtime. In particular, I always love to listen to audiobooks or music while waiting for my flight to board.

Portable Phone Charger

The following must-have for your travel essentials kit is a portable phone charger. I’m sure we can agree that having a dead phone while traveling is the absolute worst. You can’t take any pictures, you can’t call an Uber, and even worse, you don’t know where to go. Needless to say, a dead phone = disaster.

This portable phone charger allows you to charge mobile devices without being tethered to a plug socket, which is nice because you’d be surprised by how many places don’t have outlets. Plus, it’s slim and lightweight, so it can easily fit in any bag or backpack. And it works for Androids and Apple products alike.

Extra Change of Clothes

Bringing an extra change of clothes will be one of the best things you’ve ever done. As awful as it is, sometimes luggage gets lost during transit, and if you aren’t prepared, you won’t have anything to wear. Even though it’s only one outfit you’re packing in your kit, it will hold you off until your luggage comes in or until you can get more.

When picking out this outfit, try to gather the basics, like undergarments, socks, and other garments that are lightweight and easy to pack. I also like to bring a couple washcloths to use for freshening up.

Toothpaste & Toothbrush

As I mentioned earlier, there is always a chance that luggage might get lost, and you don’t want to be without a toothbrush and some toothpaste. And plus, it’s simply nice to be able to freshen up, especially when you’ve been traveling for hours.

For easy transport, I suggest using a toothbrush carrier like the ones you see above. Both are lightweight and small, which is ideal because it saves space in your bag.

Deodorant

Another item that helps you freshen up is deodorant, which is crucial in your travel essentials kit. Whether traveling by bus, car, plane or even train, it can sometimes get stuffy and hot. And the last thing you want is stinky armpits during the chaos of getting to your destination. My favorite deodorant is the women’s degree; it keeps me fresh the entire day and doesn’t leave white marks on my armpits.

Go-to Makeup

In addition, I would bring your go-to everyday makeup for those that enjoy wearing it. For me, that includes eyeliner 〈pencil and liquid because I’m a diva〉, mascara, and chapstick. These items are super tiny, so I like to keep them in a small makeup bag inside my traveling kit. All the makeup stays in one place by having that extra bag, and I don’t have to spend an hour digging, searching for my products.

Hand Sanitizer

Due to the pandemic, I’ve become hyper-aware of keeping clean hands. And the best way to do that is to have hand sanitizer on deck at all times, especially if you’re using public transportation. Remember, for the hand sanitizer to be effective, it must contain at least 60 percent alcohol.

The travel-size hand sanitizer pictured above is one of the most efficient because it is small, lightweight, and can easily clip to your travel backpack.

If you take nothing else for this post, remember to travel safely! Bringing products like this is the best way to do so!

Entertainment

For long commutes or anytime I have downtown, I bring entertainment with me, whether that’s books, podcasts, ebooks, or streaming tv.  Usually, the day before, I download anything I plan to listen to or watch just in case I don’t have a good Wi-Fi connection while traveling. And if I have any physical books 〈which I actually prefer〉, I make sure to add those to my travel essentials kit.

Power Plug Adapter

A Power Plug Adapter is an absolute must if you’re traveling abroad. Outlets are different in other countries, and this tool will help you charge all your devices like your phone, camera, and laptop. This adapter has 4 international plug adapters covering more than 130 countries with US/EU/UK/AU plugs. However, this adapter cannot be used in South Africa, India, Swiss, or Italy. If you’re traveling to any of those countries, please be sure to find another option that works in those areas.

You don’t want to run into an issue where you can’t use your devices, so grab one (or two, just in case you lose the first) before heading out on your trip.

Feminine Products & Tylenol

And the last couple of items are for my female travelers. This honestly might be the most crucial point in this entire post! Nothing makes you panic more than starting your period and not having tampons or pads. Man, oh, man. Make sure you pack the needed feminine products for your period. 〈Those extra pair of undies will be a lifesaver if you don’t catch it in time.〉 Even if your cycle is scheduled to happen during your trip, I bring a couple pads and tampons just in case.

And if you get cramps as I do, then Tylenol is non-negotiable. These cramps have the power to ruin any trip, no matter how nice the location. We don’t want that to happen, so do not forget the meds!

Reusable Water Bottle

Having a reusable water bottle in your kit is great because you will stay hydrated. Airports, hotels, and other transportation areas will likely have water fountains to fill your bottles. And if they don’t, some restaurants will certainly refill your bottle.

Bonus tip:

Make a list that includes everything you need. This way, you can mark items off one by one and ensure it’s stuffed away in your bag. Trust me, this will save you so much time and energy when it comes time to pack.

Packing all of these items in your travel backpack or carry-on will most definitely make your trip go much smoother. You’re going to be the most hydrated and happy traveler with the best hygiene out there!

Safe Travels!
